The author treats three subjects in this paper. In the first part, he deals with the process and the context of the stabilization of Hungarian standard language from a historical point of view. That process culminated in the third part of the 19th Century, because of the favorable social and political conditions. The next part of the paper offers a brief review of the situation of the Hungarian as a minority language in Czech-Slovakia. The last part of the study provides some points of view to a concept that one of the centers of Hungarian language can be considered Slovakia.
